Mullein, also known as Verbascum, is a plant species native to Europe, Asia, and Africa, but now commonly found throughout North America. It is characterized by its tall, erect stem, large fuzzy leaves, and clusters of yellow flowers that bloom in the summer. Mullein has a long history of medicinal use, particularly for respiratory ailments such as coughs, colds, and bronchitis. Its leaves and flowers can be made into teas, tinctures, and poultices to help soothe inflammation, loosen congestion, and reduce coughing. Mullein is also sometimes used in herbal smoking blends for its calming and relaxing effects on the respiratory system.
