Description
Senna siamea, also known as Siamese cassia or Thai cassia, is a medium-sized deciduous tree that is native to Southeast Asia. It is valued for its timber and medicinal properties, and is also grown as an ornamental plant. The tree has large, fern-like leaves and clusters of fragrant yellow flowers that bloom in the spring. The fruit of the tree is a long, cylindrical pod that contains numerous seeds. Senna siamea has been traditionally used in Ayurvedic and Thai medicine to treat a variety of health conditions, including constipation, skin problems, and fever. Its leaves and bark contain bioactive compounds such as sennosides, anthraquinones, and flavonoids, which are believed to be responsible for its medicinal properties.
